How it works
Your privacy screen becomes solar power
Instead of a privacy strip, you thread the solar strips into your double-wire mesh fence – no drilling, no modifications. They generate power on both sides and, thanks to their vertical position, deliver above all in the morning, in the evening and in winter. The inverter plugs into a power socket and feeds directly into your home grid.
up to +95% more yieldVertical and double-sidedPower early in the morning, in the evening and in winter, when the sun is low.
up to +15% more yieldAlbedo effectThe rear side uses light reflected from bright walls, paths and snow.
up to +4% more yieldConvective cooling effectMounted vertically, the strips stay cooler – that means more output on summer days.
Will it fit your fence?
- Double-wire mesh fence (not a wooden, chain-link or round-bar fence)
- Panel width 2.0 m or 2.5 m
- Wire gauge 6/5/6 or 8/6/8
- At least 6 rows high (approx. 1.20 m – a package always contains 6 strips)
Is your fence lower, or are you unsure? Then let's plan it together: in a free consultation we'll take a look at your fence and tell you which kit fits and how to arrange the strips.

Warranty & statutory guaranteeWhat's covered for 20 years and what for 2
The 20-year warranty covers the solar cells and their encapsulation – the parts that generate power and are exposed to wind and weather. The rest of the product is covered by the 2-year statutory guarantee.
- Solar cells
- 20-year performance warrantyAfter 20 years, the cells still deliver at least 80 % of their rated output, so the loss in performance is no more than 20 %.
- Encapsulation
- 20-year warrantyThe DuPont™ Tedlar® encapsulation stays in perfect condition for 20 years and protects the cells from moisture, UV light and road salt.
- Rest of the product
- 2-year statutory guaranteeStrip cables, plugs and connectors, MC4 extensions and cable ties
- Inverter and battery
- Manufacturer's warrantyat least a 2-year statutory guarantee, details under Statutory guarantee
The 2-year statutory guarantee from receipt of the goods applies to the entire product, including cells and encapsulation. The warranty is provided by SUNBOOSTER GmbH, Grazer Strasse 27, 8045 Graz, in addition to this and does not limit your statutory rights. Damage caused by improper installation or handling, or by use other than as intended, is not covered.
Keep the test certificate from the package: it shows the serial number and measured output of each strip. To report a warranty claim, call 0800 4008455 (free from Germany and Austria; AI assistant, around the clock) or email service@sunbooster.com, ideally with your order number and a photo.
Installation for fences up to 10 mDIY installation, plug-and-play
- Thread the strips into the fence panel like a privacy strip, in the order shown in the instructions (A, 4× B, C).
- Connect the strips of the panel to each other. Mind the plus and minus.
- Run the MC4 extension from the bottom strip to the inverter and fasten it to the fence with cable ties.
- Plug the inverter into the power socket with the 10 m cable – done.
Fences from 20 mPV system, connected by a professional installer
For long fences, we combine the strips with Hoymiles MIT-5000-8T inverters to form a three-phase PV system, which an electrician connects permanently. For a quote, write to us at vertical@sunbooster.com; dealers and installers please contact b2b@sunbooster.com.
Frequently asked questions
Your question isn't here? Write to us at service@sunbooster.com.
Yes, if you have a double-wire mesh fence (twin-wire panels) with a panel width of 2.0 m or 2.5 m. The strips are threaded in like a privacy strip and fit wire gauges 6/5/6 and 8/6/8. For a pack of 6 strips the panel needs at least 6 rows, which is about 1.20 m in height.
Wooden, chain-link and round-bar fences are not suitable. Other panel widths are currently not available. Not sure? Book a free consultation and we'll look at your fence together.
A pack always contains 6 strips (A, 4× B, C) and is designed for a panel height of about 1.20 m. If your fence is lower, spread the 6 strips across several panels using extension cables, for example 3 + 3 on two panels.
We don't recommend simply leaving strips out, because the inverter may then not start. It's best to plan the layout together: book a free consultation and you'll get the right cables from us straight away.
Count your fence panels: 1 panel = single kit, 2 panels = double kit, 4 panels = 4-panel kit. For 2 panels take the double kit rather than two single kits, otherwise you have one inverter too many.
You can expand later with the extension (6 strips without inverter). For other numbers of panels, long fences or with storage, the configurator calculates all parts for you.
Yes, with the extension (6 strips without inverter). Sunbooster VERTICAL+ is a low-voltage system with max. 64 V; at most 2 panels may be connected in series. Your micro-inverter must work in this voltage range – check the MPPT range in its datasheet.
Classic string inverters for rooftop systems only work with power optimisers in between. If in doubt, send us the datasheet and we'll take a look.
Yes. The easiest way is our kits “+ Jackery Pro” or “+ Jackery Pro Max”: the strips connect directly to the Jackery SolarVault 3, so no separate inverter is needed. The battery has 2.52 kWh and can be expanded to up to 15.12 kWh. You can connect up to 4 panels of 2.5 m or up to 8 panels of 2.0 m (2 in series each).
Other batteries, e.g. from Anker or EcoFlow, work if their solar input matches the low voltage of the strips. Send us the datasheet and we'll tell you whether it works.
Plug-in systems in Germany and Austria may feed in up to 800 W via a socket; in other countries the national rules apply. With a battery you can connect more panels: what you don't need right away is stored instead of given away. For long fences there is a permanently connected PV system with Hoymiles inverters, installed by an electrician.
For fences over 10 m we're happy to make you an offer: vertical@sunbooster.com. Dealers and installers please write to b2b@sunbooster.com.
In Germany you only register your plug-in system in the Marktstammdatenregister (market master data register). It takes a few minutes online; registering with the grid operator has not been required since 2024. In Austria you register the system with your grid operator.
In other countries the national rules apply – ask your grid operator if in doubt.
As a guide we use 815 kWh per kWp per year, measured in Graz. A single kit with a 2.5 m panel (498 Wp) therefore produces around 410 kWh a year, a 4-panel kit with 2.5 m panels around 1,620 kWh. At 35 ct/kWh and 80 % self-consumption, a kit with inverter pays for itself in Germany after about 4–6 years and in Austria after about 5–7 years; elsewhere it depends on your electricity price.
Because the strips work on both sides, almost any orientation is fine. If the sides face east and west, you get power in the morning and evening; if they face south and north, mainly at midday. Shade from hedges or buildings costs yield, but the cells are wired so that partial shade matters less than with normal modules. The live data from our measuring installation further up shows what this looks like day to day.
You thread the 6 strips into the fence panel like a privacy strip, connect them and run the MC4 extension to the inverter. The inverter has a 10 m connection cable for the socket. Pay attention to plus and minus when connecting; the installation video shows every step.
If the inverter is further away, extend with additional MC4 cables, for example the 3 m double cable.
Yes. The technology is protected by the European unitary patent EP 4695901, registered on 10 September 2026. It applies in 18 EU countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia and Sweden.
The patent holder is SUNBOOSTER GmbH from Graz. You can get the original from us and our authorised partners.
